ABOUT ME - marcos ortega

Over 12 Years of Passion and Commitment to Traditional Tattooing

My name is Marcos Ortega, and I’ve dedicated over a decade of my life to the art of tattooing. I started in Madrid, Spain, where I was deeply influenced by punk rock, underground culture, and the DIY scene. At 17, I built a homemade tattoo machine and inked my own leg. That moment marked the beginning of my journey.

Today, I tattoo in Castellón de la Plana, Madrid, and Berlin, specializing in two classic and timeless styles: traditional American tattooing and traditional Japanese tattooing (irezumi). Every tattoo I create is hand-drawn, original, and designed specifically for each client.

Professional Background and International Experience

I moved to London to seek a proper apprenticeship, where I trained under experienced artists and learned the importance of strong lines, bold color, and respect for the tradition behind each design.

Later, I settled in Berlin, Germany, where I built a strong client base over more than 11 years. There, I co-owned two respected studios: Out of Step Tattoo Parlour and Stay Free Tattoo. These years shaped my style, solidified my career, and connected me with thousands of clients from across Europe.

Returning to Roots: Tattooing in Castellón

I now divide my work between Castellón, Madrid, and Berlin, offering appointment-only sessions in trusted studios:

  • Eagle Tattoo (Castellón de la Plana)

  • Cobra Tattoo (Madrid)

  • Spiderweb Tattoo (Berlin)

In Castellón, I aim to contribute to the tattoo scene with deep artistic and cultural knowledge. If you're looking for experienced tattoo artists in Castellón, I offer authentic, customized tattoos rooted in tradition.

Why I Work with Traditional Tattoo Styles

I’m driven by the strength and visual clarity of traditional designs. Whether it’s American old-school or classic Japanese, these styles are rich in symbolism and purpose, built to last on the skin and tell meaningful stories.

  • In traditional American tattooing: skulls, panthers, snakes, hearts, daggers, mandalas, tigers.

  • In traditional Japanese tattooing: koi fish, sakura blossoms, flowers, kitsune masks, oriental dragons, samurai, saru, and namakubi.

A Unique Style with Deep Respect for the Craft

My goal is to create tattoos that are bold, clean, and respectful of the art’s roots, but always personal. I never copy online images—I prefer to draw custom artwork based on your vision or develop a design from my own flashes.

If you’re looking for a traditional Japanese tattoo artist, or simply want to work with someone who understands the history behind tattoos in Castellón, I’d be honored to collaborate on your next piece.
